Dive-site story
Located along the steep northern contours of Weissensee in Carinthia, Steinwandl Nord/Ost is defined by a sheer limestone wall that plunges into deep alpine waters. Sunken tree trunks and craggy rock crevices cling to the face, creating shelter for native freshwater predators. As divers descend beyond the upper shallows, the light dims and distinct thermoclines bring sharp drops in water temperature.
Steep submerged rock face with vertical fissures and overhangs
Submerged trees and fallen timber providing shelter for fish
Excellent visibility typical of high-altitude alpine lakes
