Dive-site story
Situated beneath the cliffs along the Portland foreshore, Nunns Beach offers straightforward shore access to rocky reefs and kelp gardens. The site extends across undulating basalt reefs interspersed with sandy patches and seagrass, providing shelter for temperate marine species typical of southwest Victoria. Because the bay is largely sheltered from southwesterly ocean swells, it serves as a reliable training ground and night diving location when outer coastal sites are washed out.
Kelp-covered basalt boulders sheltering small temperate fish and invertebrates
Regular sightings of breeding Port Jackson sharks and draughtboard sharks in season
Gentle sloping bottom suitable for shore navigation and nocturnal critter hunting
