Dive-site story
The SS Waome rests upright on the silty bottom of Lake Muskoka, where it foundered during a sudden squall in October 1934. Because cold freshwater slows decay, much of the wooden steamship remains recognizable, including its deck hardware, engine components, and open cargo holds. Visibility fluctuates depending on surface runoff, and the fine bottom sediment requires meticulous buoyancy control to avoid whiteouts.
