Dive-site story
The Aries wreck sits upright on a sandy and rocky seabed at the entrance of the Ría de Arousa. Over the decades, Atlantic currents and rich nutrient flows have transformed the broken steel hull into an artificial reef covered in encrusting invertebrates. Divers navigate around the collapsed cargo holds, twisted iron beams, and the propeller section, which serve as shelter for cold-water fauna typical of the Galician coast.
Well-colonized structural remains of a classic cargo vessel
Dense clusters of plumose anemones and sponges covering exposed iron plates
Frequent encounters with large conger eels inhabiting the hull cavities
