Dive-site story
Located off the volcanic drop-off of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote, Shrimp Cave is a deep cavern sculpted into basaltic bedrock. The site sits beyond the main reef wall, sloping down across volcanic sand into the shadows where swarms of deep-water narwal shrimp gather in the recesses. Outside the opening, pelagics often patrol the open blue while large groupers linger in nearby crevices.
Thousands of narwal shrimp gathered along the ceiling and dark corners of the cave
Frequent encounters with resident dusky groupers around the cavern mouth
Dramatic volcanic overhangs and deep drop-off topography
Passing pelagic species and seasonal angelsharks on adjacent sand patches
