Dive-site story
Located along the North Tyneside coast near Whitley Bay, West Bay sits tucked on the landward side of the tidal causeway leading out to St Mary's Lighthouse. Divers navigate shallow kelp-covered gullies, rocky ledges, and sandy patches that provide a sheltered spot compared to the exposed seaward side of the island. Tidal timing dictates entry and exit plans, as the causeway floods completely during high water.
