Dive-site story
Resting upright on an open sandy seabed off the south coast of Naxos, this World War II British Bristol Beaufighter heavy fighter was shot down in late 1943. The aircraft remains remarkably intact, featuring preserved twin radial engines, cockpit framing, and wing structures that have formed an artificial reef habitat. Divers navigate the perimeter of the fuselage and tail section, which attract localized Mediterranean marine life across the otherwise barren seafloor.
