Dive-site story
Situated off the southwestern tip of Bangka Island in North Sulawesi, this site centers around a series of submerged volcanic boulders and rocky ridges rising from a sandy seabed. Currents sweep nutrient-rich water across the topography, creating dense carpets of colorful soft corals, crinoids, and sea fans that cover almost every exposed surface. Divers drift along the ridges and shelter in lee pockets where pelagics and schooling fish gather in significant numbers.
Kaleidoscopic expanses of dendronephthya soft corals and massive seafans encrusting volcanic rock formations
Dense schools of yellowtail snapper, blue-striped snappers, and oriental sweetlips lingering in the eddies
Occasional encounters with whitetip reef sharks and passing barracuda along the deeper flanks
