Dive-site story
Sunk during World War II off the coast of Sicily near the Zingaro Nature Reserve, the Capua rests upright on an expansive sandy seabed. The vessel carried ammunition when a fire triggered explosions on board, sending it to the bottom. Today, the hull is largely intact, encrusted with sponges and bryozoans, while large schools of fish hover over the remaining deck machinery and open hold areas.
Well-preserved hull resting completely upright on a clean sand substrate
Large schools of anthias and chromis hovering over the deck and wheelhouse structure
Engine bay access and open hold compartments accessible to trained wreck divers
