Dive-site story
Located off the southern tip of Spargi Island in the Maddalena Archipelago National Park, Secca di Washington ranks among the most celebrated granite reef structures in northern Sardinia. Massive monoliths rise sharply from a sandy seabed, forming deep corridors, overhangs, and sheltered canyons. Swept by the currents of the Strait of Bonifacio, the granite walls are densely colonized by crimson gorgonians, while pelagic predators and resident dusky groupers patrol the exposed rock faces.
Monumental granite blocks creating vertical fissures, swim-throughs, and overhangs
Dense colonies of red sea fans thriving on shaded deeper faces
Frequent encounters with large, curious dusky groupers and schools of hunting barracuda
