Dive-site story
Sunk by a torpedo in 1918, the French ocean liner SS Polynesien rests upright on a flat seabed outside Marsaskala. Renowned among technical divers as one of the Mediterranean's premier deep shipwrecks, the vessel retains much of its striking passenger-liner architecture. Divers descending the shot line meet the intact bridge, forward deck guns, and rows of passenger cabin promenades.
Well-preserved bow with anchors and visible forward deck armament
Expansive wooden-planked decks colonized by soft corals and tube worms
Intact promenade corridors and cargo holds accessible to qualified technical penetration divers
