Dive-site story
Resting upright on a seabed of sand and Posidonia meadows off the northern coast of Malta, this Lockheed P2V Neptune maritime patrol aircraft offers a distinct wreck profile. The plane was damaged during a landing incident in the 1950s and later scuttled in shallow offshore waters for underwater film work before being moved deeper. Divers can explore the remaining fuselage, wings, and engine nacelles, which have become an artificial shelter for Mediterranean fish.
Well-preserved wing sections and twin radial engine housings
Cockpit and nose structure resting intact against the seabed
Frequent encounters with resident moray eels sheltering in the fuselage frame
