Dive-site story
Rising from the depths of the open channel north of Unguja, Leven Bank is an exposed mid-ocean seamount swept by strong oceanic currents. The topography consists of a vast plateau covered in hard corals, giant sponges, and dramatic drop-offs on all sides. Because of its open-sea exposure and vigorous water movement, it serves as an aggregation point for large pelagic hunters and schooling game fish.
Encounters with large pelagic predators hunting in open water
Expansive fields of hard coral and giant sea fans along the bank crest
Frequent fly-bys from oceanic game fish and occasional reef sharks
