Dive-site story
Located within Ocala National Forest, Alexander Springs features a broad, gently sloping spring basin that feeds into Alexander Creek. Divers enter from a sandy shore into a large pool bordered by native vegetation and eelgrass beds. The bottom gradually drops toward a limestone vent where millions of gallons of clear freshwater discharge daily. Because the water temperature remains constant year-round, it serves as a reliable training ground and relaxed recreation dive, though visibility in the shallow zone can degrade when crowds of swimmers stir up the sediment.
Vast limestone bowl leading to the main freshwater vent opening
Dense subaquatic eelgrass beds harboring juvenile freshwater fish and turtles
Gentle sloping bottom ideal for skill practice and relaxed buoyancy training
Consistently clear water powered by continuous artesian spring flow
