Dive-site story
Formed by a dramatic volcanic promontory jutting into Ka'anapali Beach, Black Rock serves as one of Maui's most accessible shore dives. The lava rock wall extends beneath the surface into a sandy plain, creating a natural congregation point for sea turtles and reef fish. Divers typically follow the contour of the rocky point outwards from the beach before looping back through the coral patches.
Reliable encounters with Hawaiian green sea turtles feeding along the algae-covered volcanic rock
Whitetip reef sharks resting on the sand floor or tucked into undercut ledges near the outer tip
Night diving opportunities with hunting moray eels, sleeping parrotfish, and active octopuses
