Dive-site story
Sunk intentionally in 1987 as an artificial reef off Key Largo, the USCGC Duane sits upright on a sandy bottom outside the main reef line. The historic Treasury-class Coast Guard cutter spans an impressive length and remains largely intact, draped in corals, sea fans, and sponges. Given its exposed offshore location along the Florida Straits, the wreck frequently encounters stiff currents that bring pelagic species patrolling the decks and superstructure.
