Dive-site story
Kewalo Pipe follows a large, disused outflow pipe that extends offshore from Honolulu's south coast across a flat, sandy substrate bordered by patchy coral reef. Over decades of submersion, the heavy industrial conduit has transformed into a thriving artificial structure encrusted with hard corals, algae, and invertebrates. Divers cruise along both flanks of the pipe to inspect the undercut cavities and relief structures where marine life congregates in sheltered pockets.
Extensive artificial reef growth along the length of an old runoff pipe
Frequent resting green sea turtles along the edges and surrounding sand flats
High concentration of macro critters, nudibranchs, and moray eels tucked into crevices

Seasonality
Summer and autumn provide the calmest surface conditions on Oahu's southern shore, though south swells can occasionally reduce bottom visibility.
