Dive-site story
Located along the western shore of Hood Canal, this popular Pacific Northwest shore dive centers on the public dock pilings and the steep slope below. Wooden pilings encrusted with invertebrate life give way to a silty descent strewn with tires, pipes, and old debris that have evolved into active artificial reefs. Cold-water divers frequently visit to search out Puget Sound's signature megafauna resting within the discarded structures.
Extensive invertebrate growth coating dock pilings
Artificial habitat created by tires and debris housing resident wolf eels
Reliable encounters with Giant Pacific octopuses in shallow and mid-depth dens
