Dive-site story
Sunk as an artificial reef off Fort Lauderdale in late 1989, the Robert Edmister is an upright, steel-hulled naval tugboat resting on a flat sand floor. Coral encrustation covers the wheelhouse, railings, and open cargo deck. Because the hull sits intact and relatively shallow, it serves as a dependable wreck dive accessible on regular charter runs along the Broward County artificial reef tract.
Intact tugboat profile sitting upright on a clean sand expanse
Frequent aggregations of Atlantic goliath grouper sheltering around the stern and rudder
Pervasive soft coral and sea fan growth covering the wheelhouse frame
