Dive-site story
Summersville Lake is a man-made reservoir in West Virginia created by the Gauley River impoundment, renowned regionally for its unusually clear inland waters and dramatic submerged sandstone geology. Diving from the winter boat ramp offers accessible shore entry into sloped lakebed topography framed by towering rock cliffs, large boulders, and sheer overhangs. Submerged timber, silt pockets, and dropped ledges define the dive profile as you descend along the lake floor.
