Dive-site story
Located near Ponce de Leon in the Florida Panhandle, Vortex Spring is a commercially developed artesian spring and a staple training ground for open water through cave diving disciplines. The main spring basin features submerged training platforms, training tubes, and underwater statues, with clear freshwater flowing continually from the limestone vent. Below the basin, a cavern opening descends toward a locked steel gate that prevents untrained open water divers from entering the deep, hazardous cave system beyond.
