Dive-site story
Located off the rugged cliffs of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in San Pedro, White Point Park is one of Southern California's most distinct shore diving locations. Shallow geothermal sulfur vents bubble up through crevices in the rocky reef, blanketing patches of stone in white bacterial mats. Surrounding these thermal seeps, rocky shelves give way to lush giant kelp forests frequented by regional marine life.
Subtidal geothermal sulfur vents surrounded by pale bacterial colonies
Thick patches of giant kelp sheltering coastal fishes and invertebrates
Shallow rocky reefs filled with crevices, urchin barrens, and sea anemones
