Dive-site story
Quarter Mile Reef sits just outside the breaker line from the Sodwana Bay main launch beach within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Characterized by low-profile sandstone reef ledges, gullies, and scattered coral heads, the site is best known as a seasonal nursery and gathering ground for ragged-tooth sharks. Because of its proximity to the surf zone, surge can be significant, but the shallow profile affords long bottom times when conditions cooperate.
