Dive-site story
Located off Simon's Town in False Bay, this site features the decaying metal hulls of scuttled naval barges resting on flat sand. The open framework and scattered debris provide artificial structure in an otherwise bare sandy bay, attracting local catsharks and dense clusters of cold-water invertebrates. Because the wreckage sits in deeper open water, it requires good buoyancy control and navigation to explore fully without stirring up fine sediment.
Open wreck frames draped in ascidians, hydroids, and sponges
Regular sightings of endemic shysharks and pyjama sharks resting among rusted beams
Varied nudibranch species foraging across structural wreckage
