Dive-site story
Situated along the eastern rim of False Bay near Rooi-Els, this site consists of exposed sandstone and granite reef ridges interspersed with sand channels. Dense carpets of soft corals and multi-hued sea fans blanket the rocky shelves, providing habitat for an array of endemic shysharks and cryptic bottom-dwellers. Shore entries require negotiating a boulder-strewn shoreline, though local dive boats also visit the outer sections during settled conditions.
Extensive invertebrate carpets dominated by pink, purple, and orange soft corals covering the reef drop-offs
Frequent encounters with endemic shark species sheltering beneath ledges and in rocky gullies
Dramatic underwater boulder formations and narrow swim-through channels carved into the bedrock
