Dive-site story
Rambler Rock is an offshore granite reef structure situated in the sheltered reaches of False Bay near Simon's Town. The reef consists of large corestone boulders rising from a coarse shell-sand floor, cut through by narrow crevices and overhangs. Massive red-bait ascidians, encrusting sponges, and dense carpets of multi-colored feather stars dominate the rock faces, thriving in the nutrient-rich cold Benguela-influenced currents.
Extensive invertebrate growth featuring sea fans, ascidians, and brittle stars
Sheltered crevices hosting small endemic catsharks and octopuses
Granite boulder formations with dramatic swim-throughs and gullies
