Dive-site story
The SAS Fleur was a naval vessel scuttled as a target in False Bay during the mid-nineteen-sixties. Now resting upright on a flat sand bottom, the hull has collapsed substantially over decades of exposure to ocean swells, though the bow section, engine blocks, and shaft remain recognizable. Invertebrate growth blankets the metal framework, while deep-water fish seek shelter inside the remaining structural recesses.
Extensive encrustations of cold-water anemones covering the engine block and steel ribs
Opportunity to spot shy bottom-dwelling sharks and reef fish sheltering in hull crevices
