Dive-site story
Shallow Blinders is an offshore rocky reef situated in Plettenberg Bay along South Africa's Garden Route. The formation consists of scattered sandstone ridges, gullies, and shallow pinnacles encrusted with colorful sponges, soft corals, and sea fans. Because of its sheltered position relative to the open ocean, it offers accessible conditions for exploring typical temperate Cape reef ecology.
Encounters with endemic catsharks resting under overhangs and in rocky crevices
Dense carpets of colorful sea anemones, feather stars, and sponges
Occasional curious Cape fur seals darting across the shallow reef
