Dive-site story
The Urabain was a freezer trawler that suffered a fire at the Storni pier before being intentionally relocated and scuttled in Golfo Nuevo off Puerto Madryn to form an artificial reef. The steel wreck rests upright on a silty seabed, offering expansive exterior corridors, winches, and an intact wheelhouse for exploration. Because cold Patagonian waters surround the structure, dense invertebrate colonization has developed quickly across the hull.
Largely intact steel fishing vessel structure resting upright on the ocean floor
Dense communities of anemones and sea squirts covering the railings and masts
Shelter for large Patagonian groupers, sea bass, and visiting sea lions
