Dive-site story
Neufelder See is a flooded former open-cast lignite mine situated south of Vienna in Burgenland. The Strandbad entry provides direct access to dedicated diver training zones, complete with submerged platforms, navigation courses, and deliberately placed underwater artifacts. Dense reed beds line the shallows, giving way to silt and clay terraces where freshwater predators hunt.
Submerged training platforms and sunken training objects connected by guideline courses
Pike and large wels catfish lurking among submerged tree branches and shallow reed edges
Straightforward access with dedicated diver infrastructure including stairs and rinsing stations

Seasonality
Warmer surface layers make late spring through autumn comfortable, though winter offers the clearest water beneath the thermocline.
