Dive-site story
Located off the western coast of Moreton Island, Curtin Artificial Reef is an expansive underwater graveyard assembled from scuttled ships, tugs, barges, car bodies, and concrete infrastructure. Established in the late twentieth century, the scattered wreckage has transformed the sandy seabed into a hub for pelagic hunters and resident reef creatures. Navigating between the sunken hulls requires compass work across open sand patches, where large rays and benthic sharks frequently rest.
