Dive-site story
Located in the lagoon of John Brewer Reef off Townsville, the Museum of Underwater Art features the Coral Greenhouse installation created by sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. The skeletal stainless-steel structure rests on a flat sandy expanse, designed with pH-neutral cement figures and internal planters that encourage coral propagation. Beyond the artistic installation, the surrounding coral bommies provide classic Great Barrier Reef topography with hard coral gardens, swim-throughs, and steady fish aggregation.
