Dive-site story
Located off the coast of Armação dos Búzios, Ponta Leste sits on the eastern tip of Ilha de Âncora facing open oceanic waters. The topography consists of massive granite boulders, drop-offs, and rocky overhangs that slope down to a sandy bottom. Because of its exposed position, tidal movements and open-ocean swells can sweep around the point, bringing pelagic fish and maintaining higher average visibility than inshore sites.
Rugged granite boulder formations creating swim-throughs and sheltering cavities
Regular encounters with green sea turtles grazing along algae-encrusted rocks
Schools of jacks and blue runners patrolling the blue water off the drop-off
Rich macro life hidden within crevices and soft corals
