Dive-site story
YOGN 82 is a World War II concrete gasoline barge that spent decades serving as part of the Powell River breakwater before being deliberately sunk in 2018 as an artificial reef. The hull rests upright on a silty seabed in the northern Strait of Georgia. Divers navigating the exterior will find open holds, massive structural bulkheads, and colonizing invertebrate life taking hold across the concrete surfaces.
Well-preserved WWII concrete barge resting upright with accessible large open cargo holds
Dense clusters of giant white plumose anemones encrusting the upper deck edges and structural corners
Regular sightings of resident lingcod perched on the deck and wolf eels tucked into exterior crevices
