Dive-site story
Located off the coast of Cartagena near Tierra Bomba Island, Bajos de Salmedina and the adjoining Burbujas sector form an extensive shallow reef bank. The topography features sprawling patch reefs, spur-and-groove coral formations, and sandy channels punctuated by occasional natural gas seepages that release streams of tiny bubbles through the seafloor. Historical ballast stones and old maritime debris lie scattered across sections of the bank, reflecting centuries of colonial shipping along the approach to Cartagena harbor.
