Dive-site story
Monkey Head is an eroded volcanic rock pinnacle rising out of the waters of the Gulf of Papagayo, named for its distinctive silhouette above the surface. Submerged, the formation transitions into sprawling volcanic boulders, shelves, and sandy gullies that funnel ocean currents. Divers frequently encounter pelagic visitors passing through open water along the outer edges while bottom-dwellers rest in the sand channels between rocky outcroppings.
