Dive-site story
Scuttled deliberately in 2009 to develop marine habitat off Protaras, the MV Liberty sits upright on a flat sandy bottom. Penetration points through the hold and bridge are accessible for suitably trained divers, while the hull exterior attracts transient pelagics and schooling Mediterranean reef fish. Easy navigation and good water clarity make it a staple training ground for wreck specialties and intermediate divers visiting the eastern coast of Cyprus.
