Dive-site story
Created by the damming of the Eder river in the early twentieth century, Edersee is one of the premier inland freshwater diving destinations in Germany. The lake is famous for submerged historical architecture known locally as the sunken Atlantis, featuring intact stone bridges, retaining walls, and old village foundations that were drowned when the valley was flooded. Diving is concentrated in designated zones where underwater terrain transitions from shallow weed beds into silty slopes and rocky drop-offs.
