Dive-site story
The SS Thistlegorm is a British armed merchant ship sunk by German bombers in October 1941 while anchored at Sha'ab Ali in the northern Red Sea. Today, the upright shipwreck acts as an artificial reef and an expansive submerged museum, holding a cargo of Bedford trucks, BSA motorbikes, Lee-Enfield rifles, and munitions. The blast split the stern section, throwing anti-aircraft guns and railway carriages across the seabed around the main hull.
