Dive-site story
Located within the Mar de las Calmas marine reserve off the southern tip of El Hierro, this submerged volcanic reef features dramatic basalt steps and deep crevices. Large dusky groupers patrol the rocky ledges while schools of pelagic fish circle in the open water off the drop-off. Atlantic currents brush the outer face of the pinnacle, attracting passing rays and jacks.
