Dive-site story
Sunk in 1929 off the southwest coast of Menorca, the Malakoff was a French cargo freighter that now rests upright on an open sandy seabed. Over decades submerged, its massive steel structure has collapsed in places while retaining prominent sections like the bow, boiler engines, and hull ribs. Because of the exposed offshore location, pelagic predators frequent the perimeter while resident marine life shelters in the shadowed iron framework.
