Dive-site story
Located off the southern tip of La Palma near the Fuencaliente lighthouse, Malpique is one of the Canary Islands' most iconic dives. The site is centered around a solemn underwater cemetery of stone crosses placed on the seabed to commemorate forty Jesuit missionaries killed by corsairs in the sixteenth century. Volcanic lava flows, basalt towers, and sand channels create dramatic underwater scenery, with visibility often extending into deep blue water.
