Dive-site story
El Marmoler is the popular name for the Avvenire, a merchant freighter that sank off the coast of Montgrí while transporting large blocks of Italian marble. Resting upright on a flat seabed, the intact hull provides an atmospheric deep dive along the Costa Brava. Divers explore the exposed hold with its remaining marble cargo, traverse along the intact propeller and rudder assembly, and observe dense colonization across the superstructure.
Well-preserved upright shipwreck with visible cargo blocks in the hold
Large congregate conger eels residing inside hull cavities and deck pipes
Stern section featuring intact steering gear, rudder, and screw
