Dive-site story
Ullastres III is the furthest offshore of three iconic submerged pinnacles situated off Calella de Palafrugell on the Costa Brava. Rising steeply from deep open water towards the surface, this granite seamount features sheer drop-offs and dramatic vertical faces. Swept by Mediterranean currents, the northern and eastern walls display dense fields of Paramuricea clavata sea fans, creating shelter for resident predators and sheltering schools of pelagic hunters that circle the outer blue.
Steep granite walls blanketed in large purple and yellow gorgonian sea fans
Schools of dentex, barracuda, and jacks hunting off the deep drop-offs
Large dusky groupers resting along rocky ledges and deep fractures
Rich macro life hidden among sponge-encrusted crevices, including nudibranchs and crustaceans
