Dive sites in Fiji

Cabbage Patch takes its name from sprawling tiers of Turbinaria scroll coral that blanket the reef slope like giant leafy heads of cabbage. Located within the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, the topography consists of a gradual drop-off framed by hard coral formations where marine life shelters between the plates. Plankton-rich currents keep the corals nourished and attract swarms of reef fish along the outer edge of the bank.

Located along the barrier reef of Fiji's Coral Coast, Cannibal Canyon features a dramatic deep sand-bottom ravine carved directly into the outer reef wall. Divers explore vertical rock faces lined with sea fans before weaving through narrow overhangs and swim-through channels where whitetip reef sharks frequently rest.

Situated along the outer barrier reef edge of Beqa Lagoon, Frigates Walls features sheer vertical drop-offs exposed directly to oceanic swells and currents. Massive gorgonian sea fans, black coral bushes, and soft coral colonies cling to the wall faces, while schooling pelagic predators patrol the blue water just offshore.

Set within the Somosomo Strait along the Rainbow Reef, this precipice plunges into deep water. Dense white and ice-lavender Dendronephthya soft corals blanket the sheer vertical face, lending the wall its pale hue. Because these colonies only open their polyps to feed during moving water, matching entry to the tidal cycle is critical to see the wall in full bloom. Divers navigate a shallow coral garden and a narrow swim-through before emerging onto the drop-off.

Located within the Mamanuca Islands barrier reef system, Turtle Head is characterized by an undulating hard coral plateau that gradually drops into sand channels and coral rubble slopes. Large Porites bommies and acropora plate corals dominate the shallower terrace, providing shelter for resting reptiles and small reef predators. Mild water movement along the outer edge attracts schooling pelagics while keeping visibility generally clear throughout the tidal cycles.
