Dive-site story
The Dalton, a British steamship carrying a cargo of lead ingots, ran aground off the northern coast of Île du Planier in the late nineteen-twenties. Today the shattered vessel rests on a sloped rocky seabed adjacent to the island's steep drop-offs. The stern section remains the most recognizable feature, complete with the propeller and remnants of the steering quadrant, while the midsection and bow have collapsed across boulders and Posidonia seagrass meadows.
Well-preserved stern assembly featuring the rudder and intact propeller blades
Expansive boiler room and engine machinery encrusted with red sponges and bryozoans
Occasional schools of pelagic predators hunting above the wreckage
