Dive-site story
Located at the northern tip of Lac du Bourget in Savoie, this freshwater site offers easy shore access from the beach and harbor area of Châtillon. The dive starts over shallow aquatic meadows and sandy shallows before angling down into a steep, silty slope interspersed with submerged boulders, sunken tree trunks, and occasional small wreckage. A torch is essential past the photic zone where ambient light drops off rapidly.
Extensive weed beds in the shallows harboring juvenile freshwater fish
Stalking northern pike and schools of European perch among submerged timber
Gradual to steep silt slope suitable for navigation and buoyancy practice
