Dive sites in Guadeloupe

The Franjack is a former Danish cargo vessel scuttled deliberately off the coast of Malendure to serve as an artificial reef. Sitting upright on an open sandy seabed, the wreck has developed into a mature habitat densely colonized by sponges, soft corals, and resident fish. Divers can navigate the exterior deck machinery, swim through the open hold, and explore the wheelhouse superstructure while taking in schools of surrounding pelagics.

Stretching along the volcanic coast of Basse-Terre directly opposite the Pigeon Islands, Plage de Malendure serves as the primary gateway to the Cousteau Reserve. The site itself offers a calm shore dive featuring expansive seagrass pastures that transition into scattered coral bommies and volcanic boulders toward the rocky headlands of the bay.

Located off the leeward coast of Basse-Terre near Deshaies, Pointe de Ferry features a rocky volcanic spur extending into the Caribbean Sea. The underwater terrain transitions from shallow boulder formations covered in turf algae and sponges to gently sloping coral gardens. Divers follow the contour of the headland, exploring undercut ledges and sand channels where southern stingrays frequently feed.

Located off the northern flank of Pigeon Island within the Réserve Cousteau, this site features a steep vertical drop-off cloaked in giant tube sponges and sea whips. Divers drift along the volcanic rock face while schools of pelagics pass in the blue. The shallow reef plateau at the top provides a calm area for safety stops amid dense coral heads.
