Dive-site story
Situated along the rocky coastline near Agia Pelagia in northern Crete, Amphora Cave offers an atmospheric cavern dive steeped in Mediterranean history. Divers swim through a wide entrance into a vaulted chamber where ancient terracotta amphora shards remain calcified into the rock ceiling and walls. Outside the cavern mouth, steep rocky ledges fall away toward the sandy seabed, providing shelter for Mediterranean marine species in crevices and underhangs.
Ancient ceramic amphora fragments cemented directly into the cavern ceiling
Wide cavern entrance that allows natural ambient sunlight to illuminate the chamber
Rocky drop-offs and crevices sheltering octopuses and moray eels
