Dive-site story
Sunk in 1868 after striking a reef off southwest Kea, the paddle steamer Patris rests in two sections along a marine slope. The deeper stern and midsection lie intact enough to reveal the vessel's wooden framing, copper cladding, and one of its towering paddle wheels standing upright from the seafloor. Given its depth profile, this wreck is primarily targeted by extended-range and technical divers.
Massive, well-preserved paddle wheel standing proud of the seabed
Remarkable mid-19th century steamship construction featuring wood and iron fittings
Regular sightings of pelagic hunters cruising past the deeper sections
